LIFE SKILLS

Joan’s House of Refuge Inc will provide a myriad of inspirational and informative workshops, seminars, coaching sessions, and conferences that focus on teaching others how to live a holistic lifestyle to children and adults in underserved communities. Through a comprehensive approach that helps youth develop their inner lives through yoga, mindfulness, and self-care.

PARENTING SKILLS
Parenting is a skill, and it’s a hard one to learn at that. Being a parent is a joyous thing, but good parenting skills are something that you must work continuously at. You will never be a “perfect” parent because we all mistakes. Parenting Skills 101 will allow individuals to have a better perspective and guidance on parenting.
EMPLOYMENT READINESS
Joan’s House of Refuge Inc. Employment Readiness Program helps young and mature women and their family members in acquiring skills, networks and resources that will allow them to participate in the work force and to develop a career/work plan. Services include career counseling and coaching, employment training classes, job fairs, the Career Assessment Tool, job listing and information on local employment trends.
TEEN PARENTS EMPOWERMENT
The Teen Parent Empowerment Program equips teen parents to be responsible parents, prevent repeat pregnancies, complete their education, and establish careers, and move out of the cycle of poverty.
FINANCIAL LITERACY
Joan’s House of Refuge Inc. Financial Literacy Program empowers financial decision making for individuals and families through every stage of life. Our goal is to educate and teach others about budgeting their finance and living frugal by couponing and saving. Financial management is learned over a lifetime and access to this type of information isn’t always readily at hand.
ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET
The entrepreneurial mindset is the set of attitudes, skills, and behaviors that students need to succeed academically, personally, and professionally. These include initiative and self-direction, risk-taking, flexibility and adaptability, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving. Joan’s House of Refuge Inc knows how to develop the entrepreneurial mindset and how to see the core factors of the mindset come to life in a student.
COUNSELING SERVICES
The staff of Joan’s House of Refuge Inc. encourage the participants to give back once they have success completed the program and is out on their own. Operation Giveback allows the participants to share their story, volunteer their time and mentor another through the process.
HOUSING CONNECTION
Joan’s House of Refuge Inc. will partner with residential and commercial property owners to provide participants with access to affordable housing. Joan's House of Refuge Inc will serve as reference for participants that complete the eighteen-month program, demonstrate sound responsibility and financial income.
OPERATION GIVEBACK
